Hey Damian just a few words….

When posting comments please everyone be mindful that others are reading these posts for tips, knowledge, direction let's try and add value to each post that someone can receive some added value from your comment…after all it's not a race to the end…but rather a road of learning….

I like that suggestion, Mary. 'Guru' doesn't really describe Damian to me, as I see him more as someone who gets alongside, rather than one who talks 'at', if you understand me.

  • Have eaten many kinds of game meats but never lion. Not really sure I want to either.

  • Yep! The easiest thing is to realize that. The hardest part comes when we put it into practice. Just stop, take a breath and then think about if it will matter to you or anyone else 5 years from now. If it doesn't, then throw the thoughts in the trash and move on.

  • Do not try to reinvent the wheel, see what is hot, what is selling and create your products being relevant…hope some of these tips help……..

I agree with what you said before this and even with this to an extent but if I had stopped at just that I would never have continued and created the mall. It is great to have that for the beginnings of the path and the road to success, but if we all stop at that there is not real creation or growth into the future. We all need to recognize it for what it is and then step onto that path from those beginnings and let the natural growth and our own dreams take us from there.

Once around the net, then, Mary?

  • AnthonySmits

I read somewhere today, can't recall where, about problems being those things we saw if we ever took our eyes off the goal.
Mountaineering is a good analogy: one doesn't want to stop concentrating as it's a long way down. 🙂

That's good to hear. And the 'Mall' looks so significant. I wouldn't have guessed it was less than a month old.

  • AnthonySmits

Well………… dunno about a beach. But the concept of doing that is a great picture to keep in front. 2010 will be a great ride regardless, wherever it ends up.

  • AnthonySmits

    Thank you for that Mary.
I appreciate your help on all of this.

    Hi Mary

Thank you for sharing that tonight. I love what you did with the globe! And its a heart warming concept, pun not intended. Thank you again. Much success!

  • AnthonySmits

    Ahhhh…
Neither of you know the musical Oliver!it seems.

  • What it means to me is that no matter the danger or what makes me fearful, if I don't buy the ticket, I can never know the thrill of the ride. If I want to experience success, therefore, I have to take that path that will lead me to it and no matter what happens, I have to hang on to the end of the ride.

Thank you BIM for your personal reply.
I had not considered some of those avenues, as yet, so I'm grateful you shared them. However, I am still trying to learn how to turn the lights on. Doesn't yet matter what I have in the window if no-one can see it. And I'm pleased to say that each day I get a little more understanding. It's like raising a child, a great adventure.

  • AnthonySmits

Its getting to be a battle zone.. Back watching, dethroning…and I don't like the sound of those spurs. Hopefully you will all fall asleep at some point…

  • I began this journey more than 3 years ago. I have suffered from two different computer crashes that created losses of all the information I had. The second time, I thought having it on external drive and on the hard would save me from a restart, only to learn that a move from one home to another ruined both drives. In the past 5 months, I have not only had to start again collecting all the data but was faced with the worst case of information overload at the same time as personal problems and was about to give up when I met Damian. Thanks to his caring, he pulled me past the info overload and I soon realized, I had to get past the personal ones fast. Then I started dragging my feet about launching. I kept saying that I wasn't ready, the site wasn't perfect, that no one would be interested and all the other things I could possibly think of to stop me from risking failure. Damian, literally booted me in the butt in a personal email and told me to stop doing that and just jump in and make corrections later. For that I truly owe him my happiness and my joy at learning what the mall has been doing. Two days later, I took the leap. Yes, it really has only been a month today (as it is now jan. 1) and I just looked at our stats.

Amazing!!! I know we have to allow for our working within the sites and the robots/spiders crawling the sites for a large percentage of the hits. I never expected to see a total of more than 120,000 hits for the first month in all the sites. There is no way we could have made that many hits while working. We also could not have created hits from more than 25 different countries around the globe. We also have a 20 year-old business that has joined us because they believe in what we are trying to do. With their already global connections and the fact that they are really promoting us to all their network, I can only see good in the future of 2010.

  • The beach is my focus. I love the water and have never lived near a beach. Thing is: I am also a loner. Always have been. I hate crowds. It was a standing joke years ago because I love to dance and I would go out for the dancing and sit in the back or be on the dance floor all night and seldom walked around just talking to people. I made friends who soon realized that one on one I was fine and loved to visit with others and help them, but if they pulled me into a group with them I would just clam up and fidget cause I really didn't want to be there. They would introduce me to others after they realized the problem but they did it as small groups of maybe 2 or 3 at a time and I would be fine. If you really want to see me panic, all you have to do is tell me I have to give a speech or presentation in front of dozens. Forget hundreds or thousands. I will disappear. My partner likes people and has agreed to do that part if I will do the one on one teaching and for that I have to thank her. I really am proud of her and glad that I made my choice in her. She is 67 and was the first person I ever tried to help learn how to build a website. We are best friends now and the only two working on the mall.

    Wow.
I'm amazed that results like that are even possible, Mary, and I'm delighted that you achieved them.. Obviously its the first small step, but what a huge 'first small step'. I'm delighted for you. I have had “life” intervene in my plans too on many occasions, but I know I am more fortunate than almost all. I have health and my attitude. The first may be transitory, but no one can take the second. And so like you, I can win again too.

    Thanks
    Anthony

  • Thank you! That is really my favorite page I have ever created. I cannot take credit for the theme. I did make some minor changes to it so that I could adjust it for what we wanted to place there, but we use WordPress and the selection of themes available if you only google search for more that what is within WordPress is amazing. We chose WordPress because of the ease of use for beginners. You said you were having struggles with plugins. As you can tell, I have rapidly become quite good with them and am more than happy to try to help.

    Hi MM

I see that you are talking about persistence, a trait I need to master if I am to win at the game. And its a good reminder that worthwhile goals require work on a consistent basis ( reminds self), in order to be achieved.

  • You really wouldn't want to bet on that one would you. You would lose. I am all for the underdog winning in the end. I also love the musical “My Fair Lady” and many others.

I am not into watching television much anymore. I don't really get the time. I do love the ones that teach that the one who thinks they will never succeed and finally does. I love helping the underdog. I have been helping birds with broken wings and bringing home the abandoned dog since I was a child. I think that when the realization finally hit me that I was one of millions and not the only one of millions and could actually help them all learn it was okay to dream again was my turning point. I know it is when I began this journey 3 years ago.

  • Yep! Nothing gained by sitting on one's laurels. We have to keep stepping and we have to keep reaching. If we don't then we become stagnant.

    makingmagic

  • I am watching you learn and grow tonight and it is making me very happy. You are seeing the truth. You will succeed. Just have faith in yourself and you will find that there are others that have had that for you for a long time.

    makingmagic

  • Again, thank you!

If you really ever get to know me or if I ever write all of my experiences, you will see that even though I was made to believe I had no value, I am also a stubborn “…” that won't stay down. I still don't see myself as someone deserving to win, but I know anything is possible in my head and heart. Now with Damian's encouragement, I am learning that I am creating my life and I can win if I just make sure I take the actions that are needed for that to happen.

Kiwis generally like the underdog to win, and I certainly am one of them in that regard. My experience with Oliver! came as a result of building the set for a performance of the musical on a voluntary basis for a large group of city children who had the chance to perform in a main street theatre. I built it under a disused horse racing course grandstand. Quite a magical time, and I'd do it again tomorrow if it hadn't taken every hour in the day for weeks… My 10 yr old (at the time) slept nights under that grandstand. But such FUN.
I expect to recapture some of that fun this coming year.
As to TV. well no, the internet takes too much time.
And he laughs uproarishly and departs.

I wish you much to celebrate in your year ahead, and many hours to dream.

    Anthony

  • Still not sleeping! I work all night on the sites. I do keep leaving and then returning though.

  • You are very welcome.

  • What a great memory. I dreamt of doing plays, but not on a large scale and I already know it would have to be more in a costume than recognizable. But I love dressing up and playing parts in haunted houses for kids or similar things. Love to sit and play and share and joke with kids. I love them. It is when they get older that I fear them.

  • Aww Mary you're so sweet you deserve it because you did it even though you had fear but you didn't let it stop you- great!

  • You're getting there Anthony – compare now to like a month ago pretty drastic right you're awesome!

  • mary is good like that!

  • Thanks Dr. Deb, well I mean since that's what's controlling things it would be silly to ignore the source I think! 😉 Plus I want things to work for you guys and I know I can't do it all alone!-

  • Thanks 🙂 Here's the deal- just be loving, nice and put others before yourself and they'll soften up 😉

  • AnthonySmits

Ahh well, after making 88 comments in a month..lol… I would hope I learned something. But more than that, I hope I added something to the experience of the others here.

  • You are doing great!

thanks for all your advice, and positive thinking. but for the person like me that doesn't have any knowledge about computer is very difficult. what i need is actual or one on one mentoring or couching tobe able to do it.but my problem is money ,I cannot afford to go for it.
